Catalog & Seller Operations

Catalog & Seller Operations

Listing errors, account health, policy issues, inventory reports, forecasting, replenishment and variation errors. This is the recurring work that keeps an account running.

Amazon Solution Provider categories: Cataloguing, Account Management

What this service is

This is the operational half of selling on Amazon: the catalogue data behind every listing, and the day-to-day account work that keeps the business running. Listing errors, suppressed ASINs, account health notifications, policy issues, inventory reports, forecasting, replenishment and product variation errors. It does not stop, and it is the work that most often gets deferred when a team is stretched.

Catalogue problems are usually data problems. Duplicate ASINs, detached variations, suppressed listings and incorrect category assignment normally trace back to inconsistent source data or a flat file submitted against the wrong template. We work from a single maintained source of product data per client, so corrections are applied consistently rather than listing by listing.

For larger catalogues we submit changes through the Selling Partner API rather than by manual upload. That gives a record of what was submitted and what Amazon accepted or rejected, which shortens the diagnostic cycle when a listing does not update as expected.

On the account side, we monitor performance notifications, order defect rate, late shipment rate and valid tracking rate, and act when metrics move outside agreed thresholds. Seller Support cases are opened, tracked and followed up on the client's behalf, including reinstatement documentation for suppressed or blocked listings.

What is included

New product setup

Creating listings from client product data, including titles, bullet points, descriptions, attributes, images and the compliance fields the relevant category requires.

Catalogue audit and correction

Reviewing an existing catalogue for suppressed listings, duplicate ASINs, missing attributes, incorrect categorisation and detached variations, then working through the corrections by commercial impact.

Variation family management

Building and repairing parent-child relationships so size, colour and pack variations present correctly on the detail page.

Bulk catalogue operations

Preparing and submitting flat files or API updates for large-scale changes, with validation before submission and reconciliation afterwards.

Account health monitoring

Regular review of performance notifications, policy compliance, order defect rate, late shipment rate and valid tracking rate, with remediation where metrics move outside agreed thresholds.

Case and escalation management

Opening, tracking and following up Seller Support cases on the client's behalf, including reinstatement documentation for suppressed or blocked listings.

Inventory, forecasting and replenishment

Monitoring stock cover, inbound shipment status and FBA capacity limits, producing demand forecasts, and flagging replenishment decisions ahead of stock-out risk.

Marketplace expansion

Preparing and operating listings for additional Amazon marketplaces, including the catalogue and compliance work each region requires.

What this gives you

  • Listings complete against category requirements, reducing the suppression risk that removes products from search
  • Consistent product data across the catalogue, so variations, titles and attributes follow one standard
  • A record of catalogue submissions and their outcomes, which shortens diagnosis when Amazon rejects a change
  • Account issues identified and worked on as they arise, not at the point they affect sales
  • Replenishment decisions flagged before stock-out rather than after
  • A named point of accountability, rather than the work distributed across a team as a secondary responsibility

How the work is done

We work with Amazon category style guides and the attribute requirements that differ between categories, including the additional documentation regulated products require.

Catalogue submissions go through the Selling Partner API where volume justifies it, giving structured feedback on rejected changes instead of an unexplained failure.

We maintain a per-client source of product data, so a correction is made once and applied across every affected listing and marketplace.

Account documentation covering scope, escalation paths and access permissions is maintained in writing throughout an engagement, and handed over in full if it ends.

How an engagement runs

  1. Catalogue and account audit

A full review of catalogue state against category requirements and of account health, producing a list of issues ordered by commercial impact.

  2. Data consolidation and scope

Client product data is consolidated into a single maintained source, and we agree which responsibilities transfer to us and which stay with the brand.

  3. Correction and transition

Issues are worked through and new products set up, with changes validated before submission. Monitoring is configured and the reporting cycle established.

  4. Ongoing operation

Day-to-day management against the agreed scope, with scheduled reporting, periodic re-audit and quarterly scope review.

Selling Partner API roles used by this service

Where this service needs access to a client’s Amazon account data, that access is granted by the selling partner and limited to the roles below. Each is used for the stated purpose and nothing else.

RoleWhy this service needs it
Product ListingTo create and update product listings, attributes and variation relationships on the client's behalf.
Inventory and Order TrackingTo monitor stock positions and order status, so replenishment and fulfilment issues are identified promptly.
Amazon FulfillmentTo track inbound shipments and FBA inventory state as part of replenishment oversight and capacity planning.
Selling Partner InsightsTo read account-level performance and marketplace participation data used in client reporting and to prioritise correction work by impact.

A selling partner can withdraw this authorisation at any time through Amazon. See our data protection page for how the data is stored, used and deleted.

Training and monitoring

Or we train your team and monitor their work

Where a brand is building operational capability internally, we train their team and then monitor their work rather than doing it for them.

Training is delivered against the client's own account and catalogue, including the category-specific requirements that apply to their products, and every programme produces written procedures the team keeps.

Seller Central operations training

Account navigation, order and inventory management, performance notifications, case handling and account health.

Catalogue and listing training

Listing creation, attribute and category requirements, variation structure, flat file preparation and diagnosing suppressed listings.

Inventory and forecasting training

Reading inventory reports, interpreting FBA capacity limits, and building a replenishment cycle that anticipates stock-out.

Ongoing work monitoring

Scheduled review of the in-house team's catalogue and account work, with written findings and corrections where needed.

What this costs

Priced per project for audits and bulk correction, or as a monthly retainer for ongoing catalogue and account management. Training is quoted per programme.

We price on a quote basis because fees depend on catalogue size, marketplace count and the volume of work involved. There is no charge for the scoping call or the written proposal that follows it.
